Weiderland – Solo Exhibition by Zhi-Wei CHEN

The artist Zhi-Wei CHEN, also known as A-Wei, is an interdisciplinary artist who began to explore sculpture, paper sculpture and miniature creation as a student. With his passion for creation, A-Wei decided to take the plunge and embark on the path of art.
The exhibition Weiderland includes paper sculptures and scenic models. A-Wei’s paper sculptures are inspired by the Japanese paper sculpture master, Noda Yaren. His creation of scenic models began in 2018, which shows people’s rich imagination of legendary stories. He also likes to create works based on his childhood memories or daily life, which mostly create nostalgic atmospheres. Through the creation of various scenes, he expects the viewers to be surprised and rewarded from every point of view.
There is always a lot of inspiration lined up in A-Wei’s mind. He always finishes his works at night after work. Each creation is the result of years of self-education. His enthusiasm for creativity has allowed him to overcome the walls and confusion of the learning process. Through constant practice, he has become who he is now.
Through his works and creative journey, he wants to tell the viewers to stay true to your original aspiration, be brave, never give up on the things you love, and overcome all difficulties. As the saying goes, if you put in the work to sharpen the steel, one day it will eventually be sharpened into a needle.
